Well, I’m sitting here because I should be writing a blog… I can’t really think of what to write.

I have a lot of things to share, don’t get me wrong.

I am just having trouble wording or thinking of how to even say anything I want.

I’ve made it to Guatemala and we have hit month 4 of our race! We have been through many route changes and we have had to adapt quickly to still operate as humans and as a squad of 39 people.

This is where the Lord comes in.

Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.

Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who equip yourselves with burning torches! Walk by the light of your fire and by the torches that you have kindled! This you have from my hand: you shall lie down in torment.” – Isaiah 50:10-11

My Lord has taught me trust. Trust in route changes. Trust in his plans for my life. Trust in handing him the things that I’m holding onto that prevent me from seeking him. He has taught me how to actually trust and not just say that I trust him.

A wise man once said – “If a little child at the playground hands his father his iPod so he can go play, the father will return the iPod to the child once it is the right time. He gives back the iPod (in the right time) because it is of value and it would be important for the child to receive it back. However, if the child gives the father a stick, goes and plays on the playground, and returns to receive no stick back, the child would have probably forgotten he even gave the stick. This is because the stick is not of value and the father did not need to return it because it did not serve a real purpose for the child’s life. The father also knows when the child should get back what he has given, because the father simply sees more than the child. If the child asked for the iPod back and but wanted to keep playing on the playground, would the father give the iPod? Probably not, because the father knows the child could drop it and mess it up.

We need to give everything to God, and if it’s important for us to get things back according to him, he will give it back to us at the right time.

I’m not sure if that made much sense, but feel free to reach out if you would like to talk about it!

Thanks for reading!

  1. Love it Colin! The Lord promises in his word that those who seek him will find him. It’s a PROMISE by the One who is Faithful!! As you continue to put your trust in the Lord and look to him for guidance, your faith will continue to grow. You will see the glory of God! We are so proud of you for taking this journey of faith.

  2. This is good Colin! I love that the Father simply sees more than the child…this is so true, HIS perspective is not ours, and we can trust that He sees more and differently than we do, therefore we can trust Him with everything! Especially things unseen! He is also teaching me this recently! He is a good good Father and He really does know what’s best for us. We can trust Him with our hearts, He will take care of us! Keep trusting, keep pursuing Him!

  3. I hope you get your ipod back….but proud of you for giving it up at this time – you won’t regret it. Trust God’s timing! It might look like having to choose to trust every day with the very same thing that you gave Him the day before. It was so good to see you in Guatemala and to get to be a part of this journey with you. Love seeing the growth in all of you.

  4. Wow! That’s encouraging! I’ve been reminded constantly about His promises… Thank you for the comment!
